favourite scenes from “my name is fame” (2006)
close friends will know that i have two favourite movies:
- Stranger Than Fiction (2006)
- My Name Is Fame/我要成名 (2006)
i have a few favourite scenes from 我要成名. Throughout the film, the protagonist Poon, played by Sean Lau, visits a sundries shop, operated by a lady boss and her son. He visits the shop a few times, the first time asking for half a dozen of beer (he leaves out beer, simply saying “half a dozen”). the lady boss asks him if he has been filming any shows lately, and comments that she had been watching his old show, 大时代, and praised it. he replies “perhaps (i will be filming) in my next life”.
the film goes on and the next time he returns to the sundries shop, he says “half a dozen” to the lady boss, and she reaches for a pack of beer, while he corrects her and says, “no, half a dozen of instant noodles” (which he is intending to get for his disciple, Fei). after which, he asks for a laundry list of supplies, such as skin care products, first aid, etc. the lady boss asks him if he is quitting smoking or fighting a war. he replies, “打日本鬼子”.
