i watched The Book Thief today, and it was a rather nice movie. i watched it because zixin and huangxiao were presenting about the Pen and the Sword and they used the film as a starter/grabber for their essay presentation. another reason was because i had already downloaded it a few days ago and was just waiting for a time to watch it.

it is a pretty decent movie. one of my favourite scenes is when Liesel was welcomed into the rich man’s house by the rich man’s wife, and she walks into this room and the entire room is filled with books, and the look of awe and excitement on Liesel’s face is unimaginable. the film is set in pre-WWII, so you can imagine what a girl would feel when she sees a huge library full of books, especially after she just took part in a book-burning ceremony a few days (or weeks) before. for Liesel, a girl who loves to read, this might just be paradise.

hello.

i thought i should come here and write something.

survived Friday, which is yesterday. we had a very interesting ELL lesson. the presenter was very confident and she put across her ideas effectively. the words kept flowing. she was amazing. i liked the lesson very much.

went for dinner at this place in Bedok. the price is very reasonable and the food is surprisingly good. then stopped for ice cream and it wasn’t very sweet but was quite expensive o_o but the service was good and there were some unique flavors.

want to end off by saying that i’m very happy to have friends around me and also, i am really interested in getting to know all of you. be sure to talk to me when you see me. we might just have a meaningful conversation.

just the other day i fell asleep during break and awoke suddenly (or rather startled). this friend was sitting beside me doing her work, and after a while we were talking about smartphones.

those who know me know that i really enjoy talking about technology. in fact, one of my favourite things about tech right now is loop wallet, a new kind of concept, or idea, or whatever you’d call it, that might be replacing NFC soon.

so we were talking about smartphones, because she was going to get a new smartphone sometime in March and she was considering an iPhone 5S (well, she didn’t exactly say an iPhone 5S, she said an iPhone 5, which I then corrected her by saying that Apple took the iPhone 5 off the shelves, they only have 4S and 5S models now). Being an iPhone owner I encouraged this move.

i also took the opportunity to lament at how smartphone users are constantly stuck to their phones...

i woke up at 3pm. i checked and saw that my house of cards was complete.

i showered and went to have dinner with my grandparents, grandaunt, aunt, uncle and little cousin, to celebrate my grandmother’s birthday.

they had run out of a lot of things on the menu, like crab and yam, because many tables were pre-booked for another event.

after returning home, i watched nine episodes of house of cards and fell asleep at around 5am.
